WHERE TOUCH BECOMES DESIRE

There is a Moment, before you ever try something on, when your hand already knows. A sweater that begs to be pulled close. A coat with a nap that catches the light differently with every turn. A bag whose surface has more to say than its silhouette. September is when fashion stops speaking only in colour and starts speaking in touch — and this season, I am listening.

Texture is not a trend I follow. It is a decision I make with my fingertips before my eyes are even convinced. Wool that has weight. Suede that holds a memory of your hand. Faux fur that softens a hard edit of tailoring. Tweed that carries a hundred years of quiet confidence into a single blazer. Woven leather, studded leather, beaded leather — bags that reward a second look, and a second touch. This is the month I build a wardrobe you can feel with your eyes closed.

Here is Where I Found it.

Anine Bing — The Wool That Means Business

Anine Bing's cold-weather knits and structured wool pieces do something few brands manage: they make texture look disciplined. A ribbed sweater in a dense, substantial knit sits differently on the body than a thin layer ever could — it has presence. Paired with her tailored wool coats, the effect is architectural, almost graphic, but never stiff. This is texture as authority.

Texture, Worn Deliberately.

Aspinal of London — Leather That Earns Its Story

As my anchor brand, Aspinal of London never lets me down when it comes to surface. Their woven and hand-finished leather bags are where craftsmanship becomes visible — every plait, every seam, every subtle grain telling you this piece was made, not manufactured. This month I am drawn to the woven-leather totes and the Aspinal X Patrick McDowell, Gold Rose Hand Embroidery Black Velvet and Patent Croc evening trunk – the kind of texture that catches candlelight as easily as daylight.

Craft You Can Trace.

Base Blu — Suede in Its Softest Form

Base Blu's outerwear this season leans into suede and brushed textures that feel almost impossibly soft against tailored layers underneath. A suede jacket doesn't just look expensive — it moves differently, catches light differently, ages differently. It's the kind of piece that improves the longer you own it. And of course don't forget gorgeous suede shoes, boots and bags. Don't be afraid to look in the men's department for jackets, sneakers, and even men's bags can be the perfect thing you've been dreaming of . . . need I tempt you more to buy suede?!

Softness With Substance.

HEWI for THE ICONS — Beaded Detail, Considered Shine

HEWI – Hardly Ever Worn It brings something distinct to THE ICONS this month: fine jewellery with beaded and textured metalwork that mirrors the tactile mood of the season's clothing. Where the rest of this edit is about wool and leather, HEWI is the counterpoint — small, considered surfaces that catch and hold attention the way a beaded bag clasp does. It is a quieter kind of texture, but no less deliberate or meaningful.

Small Details, Full Attention.

The Double F — The Jacket With a Modern Edge

A jacket could so easily read as safe. The Double F avoids that trap entirely, cutting jackets in brushed velvet, dense wool, bold patterns, suede and leather that feel current rather than predictable. Single or double-breasted, blazer to bomber – a jacket here isn't background dressing — it's the piece that anchors the whole look, textured but sharp, tactile but tailored. Easy to style. Easy to wear. A wardrobe essential.

Heritage, Made Present.

Tory Burch UK — Knitwear, Wool and Texture That Grounds a Look

Tory Burch UK's cold-weather essentials this month are where texture becomes wearable, everyday luxury. Chunky knitwear anchors the base layer, fleece and wool outerwear add warmth without sacrificing shape, and the bags carry the same tactile language — woven, quilted, textured surfaces that hold their own against heavier layers. It's texture built for repetition, not just for effect.

Warmth, Textured Throughout.

Texture is the part of getting dressed that no photograph fully captures. You have to be in the room — or in the coat — to understand it. This September, I am building around pieces that reward proximity: the sweater you want to lean into, the bag you want to run your hand across, the coat that changes character depending on how the light falls on it.
